Kyiv, Ukraine, Stolichny asphalt plant, Ostrovnaya Street (access road with Veleton MPC)
The access road to the Stolichny asphalt plant was one of the first sites where modification of the asphalt mixture with Veleton MPC was used. The section works constantly under loads from the goods vehicles serving the plant. The road foundation had not originally been prepared properly or to a good standard, which made the site a particularly telling test of the durability of the solution.
The task was to test how Veleton MPC performs under difficult conditions: constant goods traffic, increased service loads, an insufficiently sound foundation and long service without major intervention.
Modification of the asphalt mixture with Veleton MPC was used to lay the pavement. During the audit the production parameters of the SMAS-15 were recorded: Veleton MPC dosage 2.5 kg/t, bitumen content 5.9%, mixture discharge temperature 190 °C, mixing cycle 46 seconds including 12 seconds of dry mixing.
Following the audit, Veleton specialists recommended lowering the discharge temperature of the mixture by 5-7 °C to optimise the process further.
Veleton specialists provided an audit of the materials and the production parameters, control of the Veleton MPC dosage, support of SMAS-15 production, control of the temperature regimes, analysis of the mixing parameters, an audit of the pavement condition after 5 years in service, liaison with the plant's laboratory and an update of the technical recommendations.
As part of the audit, an inspection was also carried out of the paving site on the plant's premises in the village of Schastlivoe.
5 years of service passed between laying the pavement and the site audit. According to the audit in spring 2026 the pavement has remained serviceable with no substantial change: no cracking, no rutting, and no significant defects found.
The result is particularly telling because the section worked under constant goods traffic and on an insufficiently sound foundation.
The site is of particular value as one of the first projects using Veleton MPC. The 2026 audit confirmed that even with difficult initial conditions, using Veleton MPC makes it possible to increase the resistance of the pavement to service loads and to achieve durability. A further effect of the audit was an update of the production parameters, an exchange of experience with the plant's new laboratory and the preparation of recommendations for further optimising production.
Not calculated. The key value of the site is confirmation of the durability of the pavement under difficult service conditions 5 years after completion.
