Kyiv, Ukraine, Solomenskaya Square (major repair of the road and the intersection with Veleton MPC)
A major repair of the road and the intersection was carried out in the area of Solomenskaya Square in Kyiv. The site is among those with intensive urban traffic, high loads on the pavement and regular braking, lane-changing and turning zones.
The task was to increase the resistance of the pavement to rutting and deformation by using an asphalt mixture modified with Veleton MPC.
Modification of the asphalt mixture with Veleton MPC was applied at the site. At the time the works were carried out, the mixture for the lower course was produced with a dosage of 2.5 kg/t. The surface course was subsequently planned to be laid as continuous pavement, also using MPC modification.
Samples had been taken earlier for this solution and returned a high result for rutting resistance: 1.84 mm against a limit of 4 mm.
Veleton specialists provided an audit of the materials and application conditions, selection and adjustment of the mixture composition, determination of the Veleton MPC dosage, control of the use of the modified mixture, support of mixture production for the lower course, preparation of the solution for the subsequent surface course, sampling for testing and the follow-up audit of the pavement condition in 2026.
The rut depth in testing was 1.84 mm against a limit of 4 mm. The actual figure is more than 2 times better than the limit.
According to the 2026 audit the pavement is in excellent condition: no cracks, deformation or other defects.
The 2026 audit confirmed that the section fully meets expectations for a well-executed site with modified asphalt. The case matters because it carries not only a laboratory result for rutting but also actual confirmation of the pavement's condition after the site was completed.
Not calculated. The main confirmed effect is a rutting result more than 2 times better than the limit, and excellent pavement condition according to the 2026 audit.
